Kate Middleton

Everything else might be decided but when it comes to the category of British Style Award, the nominees are not as complete as they were expected to be. Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, who made London the world’s top fashion capital snatching the position from New York City, is not on the list!

Now, this is shocking and being largely debated upon. The local newspaper, The Telegraph, has written extensively on the subject and brought it to public notice. The Telegraph is also launching a campaign to get her on the list. The newspaper has accepted the fact that Kate herself has no fashion aesthetic and that her shopping at brands like Zara, Erdem, Alexander McQueen, Reiss, Jenny Peckham and Topshop and marriage to Prince William are the only reason why she should be there, it also argues that she has been the ambassador for British fashion over the past year and taken the city of London to a prominent position in this regard. Hence, she deserves to be in.

Only time will tell if Kate Middleton will be one of the nominees alongside Victoria Beckham, Emma Watson, Adele, Lara Stone and others. The voting will be held publicly and people are to decide the winner. Let’s see who wins.

Versace joins hands with H&M

Where fashion designers all around the globe seem to be working on a strictly competitive basis, collaborations between some established fashion houses are also often seen. And when they do happen, they amaze the world with excitement as people expect something big to come out. Of course, when two big fashion houses would combine, something outstanding is expected to happen. In 2010, the Italian giant, Donatella Versace joined hands with the French giant, Lanvin and in 2011; it came to collaborate with the world renowned Swedish brand, H&M.

The world is now waiting to see what happens. Ever since Gianni Versace died in 1997, people expected the brand, Versace to see a very hard time in future. However, the way Gianni Versace’s sister, Donatella Versace, came to handle it, the brand only grew to become bigger and better. Back in 2008, this was proven when in New York City, Donatella Versace stated that she had worked hard to bring the brand up and bring it in the category of ‘luxury’. This was the reason, according to her, that she had never made collaborations with brands like H&M. three years on, times seem to have changed and Donatella Versace is all set and ready to do something, not too luxurious, but big for sure.

The luxury standards of Versace have been much seen and enjoyed by the elites but its H&M line is yet to be seen. It might not be that expensive and high-end but is expected to be fabulous in its own right. Only time will tell what Versace can do outside the ‘luxury’ box.
